Students must be enrolled for the correct
number of hours to receive financial aid.
Federal Pell Grants:
Pell Grants are reduced according to the student’s enrollment status:
12 hrs. or more = Full-Time
9 – 11 hrs. = ¾ Time
6 – 8 hrs. = ½ Time
5 or less hrs. = Less Than Half-Time
Federal Stafford and Perkins Loans:
Students must be enrolled at least half-time to qualify for student
loans. The University has defined half-time as 6 credit hours for
undergraduate students and 3 credit hours for graduate students. Federal
regulations require lenders to delay disbursement to first-time freshmen
for 30 days.
Census Date:
Financial aid disbursements are based on the student’s enrollment status
at the close of the 1st day of classes each semester. Once funds are
disbursed, no adjustments for changes in enrollment status will be made
to financial aid awards. Students adding classes after their financial
aid is disbursed date will be required to pay any additional tuition and
other charges from their personal funds.
When:
Financial aid funds are posted to the student’s student account on the
3rd day of classes each semester. If the funds overpay the account, a
check is written and mailed to the student’s Local Mailing Address.
Checks written every Tuesday for the balance of the semester.
When funds are posted to the student’s account, the Student Accounts
Supervisor will e-mail the student to notify them that Federal funds
have been disbursed.
